You reap what you sow(因果応報)から学ぶ】reapとharvestの違い

たまたま「You reap what you sow」という諺を知ったので、少しご紹介します。

諺【You reap what you sow】

[You reap what you sow]

There is a proverb which says, “You reap what you sow“. Figuratively, it means that whatever you invested or gave, you will also get the same thing in return. So if you sow kindness towards people, you will also reap kindness from others.

Reap and harvest are synonymous to each other and can be used interchangeably. “reap” and “harvest”, when used figuratively can either be negative or positive. They basically mean to receive either benefits or consequences of an action. harvest and reap, when used figuratively are synonyms.

This proverb tells us two things.

First, we have to take responsibility for whatever we did, and shouldn’t put the blame on other people. Everything that we are facing was brought upon us by our very own self.

Secondly, we shouldn’t reap the consequences of someone’s mistakes on their behalf. Instead, we should let them face the consequences by themselves.

Whatever it is, no matter how bad it is, might be connected to the next step for them. We should give them the opportunity to find the light at the end of the tunnel and have the next stepping stone to success or something good in their life.
